"Mr. O'Rourke" was a very important person in my education, an excellent chemistry and math teacher in my years at Archbishop Murray Memorial H.S. not only for the subject material but to learn how to think... He would often quote one of his own professors from St. Thomas, "Knowledge doesn't settle like the morning dew" ...I can still hear it with that bit of Nordeast mpls inflection. I stumbled upon this obituary after searching his name yesterday because he came to mind as I was reading an article on a new theory of atomic molecular behavior that brought back a dialogue from those high school days. He was my best teacher as I think back over those years... over and above the fact that I had an ardent crush on him. I had not seen him for years after high school until he tapped me on the shoulder at the end of the funeral service for Sister Claire at Archbishop Murray H.S. which was back in the mid 90's [?] if I recall and we stood and talked for over an hour forgetting to follow the burial trail. He hadn't changed a bit, had earned his Doctorate since those AMMHS years and was teaching philosophy in Winona and was pleased to learn that I had a JD and an active practice [since retired] and asked me about many of the other students by name from those long ago years. I would say may he rest in peace ...but I think he will rather revel in learning all those secrets of the universe both scientific and philosophical from the Master of it all.
