Lorraine Narog Obituary

Narog, Lorraine A (Buckley)

age 89 of St. Anthony, passed away on 10/20/2021 at St. Therese at St. Odilia in Shoreview.  She was born on 3/8/1932 in Minneota, MN to Leo and Bertha Buckley.  She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family.

Lorraine graduated from Minneapolis Vocational High School in 1949.  She started and ended her career as a confidential legal secretary, in the 1950’s for the Minneapolis City Attorney’s and with the Hennepin County Attorney’s office in the 1990’s.  In between, she was a devoted mother who raised 3 children with her husband Frank.  Once the kids were grown, she started the volunteer program at St. Anthony Schools (ISD 282) and was the volunteer coordinator for Middle and High school events.  Later she became the secretary for superintendent of St. Anthony schools and then moved on to be the secretary in the Rectory of St. Charles Borromeo. She was a member and president of St. Charles Borromeo’s Women’s Club, a Eucharistic minister, and along with Frank, a mentor for the engaged couples program.  Lorraine enjoyed doing Dale Carnegie training courses and being a chaperone on multiple St. Anthony marching band trips with Frank.

Lorraine loved to travel, be it air, car or boat.  In addition to the annual family trip to the North Shore where they enjoyed hikes and bonfires at the lake, Lorraine made trips to China, Alaska, Colorado, California and Florida, just to name a few places. She drove out Denver with daughter Laura and any variation of granddaughters every summer, enjoying visits with Peter and family.  She just returned from Colorado in August.

She adored her children and grandchildren. She treasured their many visits and calls.  She always said they were the light of her life.  Lorraine loved to laugh and was overjoyed when her family was all together making memories.  Her family and many friends will always remember what made her special – her smile, laugh, and caring spirit.

Lorraine had many hobbies, including her famous frosting (in any color!) and cake decorating skills. She made many sheet cakes for everyone. She also made a mean coffee cake. Both of which her grandkids loved.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, her plants and being outside.

Preceded in death by husband Frank W. Narog; parents Leo and Bertha Buckley, and five siblings. She is survived by children Laura (Eric) Bollensen, Peter (Philippa) Narog, Paul (Katherine) Narog; grandchildren Maria, Victoria, Alyssa, Walker, Wilson, Theresa, Luke, Matthew, Ben; and sister Sedona Buck and many loving relatives and friends.
