Eugene DeKanick Obituary

Eugene M. DeKanick

DeKanick, Eugene M., age 82, passed away on January 16, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Stella and Martin DeKanick on April 6, 1938, Eugene was raised, along with his sister, in Minneapolis. He went to Edison High School where he met his wife, Patricia Iversen. He worked for Northwestern Bell/Qwest and retired after 40+ years of service. Eugene was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He loved traveling and spending free time with his family and friends. He and Pat especially enjoyed spending winter months in Palm Desert, California, with great friends, while being visited by family. Eugene was passionate about car shows, spending hours taking in the sights and sharing his own Mustang convertible. He was a caring man who helped everyone and did so with his contagious smile.  Preceded in death by daughter, Lynn Marie, and parents, Stella and Martin DeKanick. Survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia; Children: Bradley (Linda), Laurie (David), Martin (Whitney), and Brian (Amy); Grandchildren: Christine (James), Leann (Kevin), Catherine (Jacob), Phillip (Lauren), Amanda, Rachel (Jesse), Benjamin, Matthew, and Vivian; Great-Grandchildren: Lucie, Milo, and Piper; Sister: Darlene Friend as well as in-laws and nieces. The family would like to thank Visiting Angels and Fairview Hospice for the care they provided Eugene.
