Patricia Mae Nelson, age 73, formerly of Cheyenne, WY, passed away peacefully at her home in White Bear Lake, MN on April 2, with her husband, daughters, son, grandchildren, and great grandchildren by her side. She was a 24 year breast cancer survivor, ultimately passing from its complications.
Pat was born May 16, 1944 in Scottsbluff, NE to John Schraeder and Marie Schraeder (Schwartzkopf). She was the youngest of 6 children.
Pat was married to Richard J. Nelson (Dick) on April 9 1965 in Costa Mesa, California where they made their home for nearly 20 years. In 1984 they moved to Alaska which they greatly enjoyed. They later moved to Milwaukee, WI, Cheyenne, WY and ultimately to White Bear Lake, MN to be near family.
Pat was employed for more than 35 years in the medical device manufacturing business and automobile service industry. She had a real passion for sewing and specifically quilting for both friends and family. Sharing her beautiful creations, enjoying quilt shows, especially giving her art was the highlight of her life during recent years.
She is survived by her husband, Dick Nelson; daughter, Jeri (Ralph) Johnson; son, Randy Rogers; daughter, Nancy (John) Golden; sisters, Shirley Buxbaum and Helene Jesse. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: James Rogers, Jessica Sinko (Johnson), Samantha Johnson, Joshua Rogers, Alexandra Johnson, Nicole Rogers, Danielle Golden, Zachary Rogers, Stephen Golden and Adam Golden; as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Harper Sinko and Lucas Sinko.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie Schraeder; brothers, Reuben, Raymond and Leroy; sister who was affectionately known as “Little Mary” and her first husband, James Rogers.
Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 19th at Billman~Hunt Funeral Chapel with gathering one hour prior at 10:00 a.m.
