Jean F. Winkels

Jean Frances Winkels, of Apple Valley; formerly of Edina, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018. She was 95 years old.

Jean became a registered nurse in the 1940's and farmed with her husband in Taopi, Minnesota until they moved to the Twin Cities in the late 50's. As a nurse, Jean worked for Gillette State Hospital and then St. Barnabas and Swedish Hospitals, and finally Metropolitan Medical Center in the 1970's. She retired after over 35 years as an RN and was a life-long member of the Twin Cities Nurses Association, active member of the Apple Valley Senior Center and devoted member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church Community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; daughter, Ann; son, Tom.

Jean is survived by her sons, Jim (Chris) Winkels and Pete Winkels; daughter, Mary (Al) Boyum; daughter-in-law, Lanie; grandchildren: Chris (Julie), Nate (Gail), Tim (Courtney), Jason (Neely), Jenny, Sara; great-grandchildren: Andrew, John, Jacqui, Nick, Kaylee, Thomas, Syd, Larissa, Marcus, Jake and Jaxen; one brother; other loving family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 9th at Holy Cross Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior at the church, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Adams, MN at 2:00 p.m.
